In its inaugural year, the Next Generation Short Story Awards is a not-for-profit short story awards program proudly affiliated with the Next Generation Indie Book Awards, the largest book awards program in the world for independent authors and publishers.
Honoring exceptional stories written by a diverse group of authors is at the forefront of the Next Generation Short Story Awards (also known as NG Short Story Awards). The NG Short Story Awards offers cash prizes ranging from $75 to $500, and medals to winners in 30+ categories.
NG Short Story Awards was founded by publishing executive, Catherine Goulet, publisher, Catherine Teets, and author/illustrator, Ashley Belote. Catherine is also the Founder of the Next Generation Indie Book Awards while Cathy acts as Co-Chair and Ashley as a Senior Advisor.
Judges include editors, literary agents, book reviewers, educators, publishing executives, literary experts, and successfully published authors. The Grand Prize Winners are celebrated during the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference at a gala cocktail awards reception hosted by the Next Generation Indie Book Awards ("NGIBA").
All Winners of the Next Generation Short Story Awards will have their stories included in an anthology while all finalists will be mentioned in the Anthology published by award winning publisher Headline Books, an esteemed independent publisher named the 2023 Independent Publisher of the Year.
